The first dubbed episodes of Monty Python’s Flying Circus were broadcast in Japan in 1976. The first few installations baffled the audiences, but then it suddenly took off, becoming the top rated show in Japan.

The literal translation of the Japanese title was “The Gay Dragon Boys Show”.
